Kay Karssemakers wins the ADAC Youngster Cup in Gaildorf

Kay Karssemakers of Husqvarna BT Racing has won the ADAC Youngster Cup round in Gaildorf. Karssemakers came close to the win in the first moto and finished second. In the second moto he managed to win the race, which was enough to take the overall win.

The track circumstances were great on Saturday. Kay was in the second group of qualifying and managed to post the fastest time over both groups. Kay took pole position and was ready to go for the first moto.

Karssemakers took a good start in the first moto and came out of the first lap in second. He was following the leader and managed to take over the lead in the middle of the race. Kay was leading till the closing stages of the race but got passed and finally finished the race in second position.

Due to a lot of overnight rain the track was really muddy on Sunday. Kay took a really good start in the second moto as well and was leading by the end of the first lap. He was in control for the rest of the race and took the moto win. Because the third and final moto was cancelled due to the rain and the poor track circumstances, Kay had scored enough points to take the overall win.

This weekend the Husqvarna BT Racing team will race the EMX250 round in Uddevalla, Sweden.

Kay Karssemakers finishes in eighth position in the Dutch MX Season Opener in Lierop despite a painful back

Husqvarna BT Racing participated in the Dutch MX Season Opener in Lierop last Sunday. Due to a crash in the week prior to the race, Kay Karssemakers started the day with a painful back. Despite this he managed to set the eighth fastest time in practice and was motivated to do well in the motos. Wesly Dieudonne had arm pump and was struggling to ride a perfect lap. Due to this he ended the session in 23rd position.

Kay took a decent start in the first moto and went into the first corner around tenth position. In the beginning of the race he worked himself up into eighth place but due to a crash he dropped back to twelfth position. In the rest of the race he recovered well and charged back to ninth position. Wesly had arm pump again in the first moto and was struggling to find his rhythm. Despite this he kept fighting and finished the race in fifteenth position.

In the second moto, Kay took a better start and came out of the first turn in fifth position. He managed to held on to this position in the first two laps but dropped back to seventh in the laps after. After a consistent first half of the race he lost his rhythm and made a crash as well. He lost the seventh position and finally finished in eighth place. The second moto was a bit better for Wesly and this time he crossed the finish line in thirteenth position.

Lucas And Sacha Coenen Continue Season Build Up During MX2 Spanish Championship Event at Montearagon

Lucas and Sacha Coenen of Jumbo Husqvarna BT racing had their wares on good display during the opening round of the MX2 Spanish championships at Montearagon. This was the brothers’ first race outing in a long while, and also their first event int he colors of the team.

Sacha qualified in ninth position on Saturday in his first outing on the bigger bike, and he managed to convert that into two holeshots on Sunday. “In the first race I held the lead for five laps, but a mistake dropped me to fourth. I managed to keep the leading trio in sight, but wasn’t able to pass them back. I finished a strong fourth,” he said.

Lucas also started well in the first race, getting off the line in fourth spot. He unfortunately crashed after a few laps. “The bars were bent and I had to quickly visit the pits to get them straightened out. I was stone last when I re-entered the track and worked on passing as many riders as I could. Towards the end of the race, I posted the fastest lap times of the field, and finished 14th,” Lucas commented.

The two brothers both had their share of setbacks in the second heat. Sacha claimed another holeshot, but he crashed when he became the victim of an aggressive block pass. He worked his war forward again, but the front brake line on his bike had become dislodged and kept jamming in the front wheel, forcing him to retire from the race. Lucas also dropped off the line well, but a wheelie forced him to slack off, dropping him to tenth. He recovered to fifth, but his holeshot device jammed, forcing him to retire as well.

“We had some setbacks this race, but we have proven that our speed is right up there, “the brothers enthused. “We are working hard with our preparation, and we will be ready when the EMX250 series kicks off in Mantova at the beginning of March.”
