Kay Karssemakers of Husqvarna BT Racing finished in sixth position overall in the opening round of the Dutch Masters of Motocross in Harfsen. Karssemakers finished in seventh position in both motos which gave him sixth position overall.
With over sixty riders there were two groups in qualifying. Maxime Grau was riding his first race after knee surgery in the winter and for him it was important to gain race rhythm. He set the tenth fastest time in group A. Wesly Dieudonne was in the same group and after several attempts he set the sixteenth fastest time. In group B it was Karssemakers who came out in sixth!
In the opening moto it were Karssemakers and Grau who were taking a really good start. Karssemakers came out of the first lap in third and Grau was in fifth not far behind him. During the race Karssemakers lost a few positions, worked himself back up to fifth but finally finished the race in seventh. Grau dropped all the way back to seventeenth place but made another mistake and decided to ride safe for the rest of the moto. Wesly Dieudonne had a difficult first moto and had to retire.
Karssemakers was riding a strong first part of the second moto but while riding in fifth place he made a crash. Despite this he regroup well and finished the race in seventh again. Dieudonne came all the way back from 24th position to a well deserved twelfth position while Maxime Grau started the race just outside of the top ten, lost a few positions during the race and crossed the finish line in fourteenth place.
Karssemakers finished in sixth position overall and Dieudonne and Grau ended the day in sixteenth and eighteenth position. Next weekend the Husqvarna BT Racing team will participate in the opening round of the EMX250 Championship in Riola Sardo, Sardinia.
