Husqvarna BT Racing participated in the Dutch MX Season Opener in Lierop last Sunday. Due to a crash in the week prior to the race, Kay Karssemakers started the day with a painful back. Despite this he managed to set the eighth fastest time in practice and was motivated to do well in the motos. Wesly Dieudonne had arm pump and was struggling to ride a perfect lap. Due to this he ended the session in 23rd position.
Kay took a decent start in the first moto and went into the first corner around tenth position. In the beginning of the race he worked himself up into eighth place but due to a crash he dropped back to twelfth position. In the rest of the race he recovered well and charged back to ninth position. Wesly had arm pump again in the first moto and was struggling to find his rhythm. Despite this he kept fighting and finished the race in fifteenth position.
In the second moto, Kay took a better start and came out of the first turn in fifth position. He managed to held on to this position in the first two laps but dropped back to seventh in the laps after. After a consistent first half of the race he lost his rhythm and made a crash as well. He lost the seventh position and finally finished in eighth place. The second moto was a bit better for Wesly and this time he crossed the finish line in thirteenth position.
Kay finished in eighth place overall and Wesley ended the day in thirteenth place. The next race for the Husqvarna BT Racing team is the opening round of the Dutch Masters of Motocross in Harfsen on the 19th of March.
