Husqvarna BT Racing and Kay Karssemakers take podium position in EMX250 Sardinia

Husqvarna BT Racing and Kay Karssemakers have taken a podium position at the opening round of the EMX250 Championship in Riola Sardo, Sardinia. On the deep sand track Karssemakers took a third overall with a 5-2 in the motos.

There were 40 riders who were participating in the event so all riders were qualified directly. The time practice counted for the starting positions. Karssemakers did several fast laps and posted the eighth fastest time. Wesly Dieudonne set the 14th fastest time and Maxime Grau ended the session in 25th position.

Karssemakers didn’t took a good start in the first moto but he was turning short in the first corner and worked himself up into eighth position. During the first lap he managed to overtake a few other riders and moved up into fifth position. During the race he worked his way up into fourth position. He kept the pace high and was in a battle with the fifth and sixth place riders. Kay lost fourth position and was under pressure from the rider who was riding in sixth position. Kay kept his head cool and finished the race in fifth position. Maxime Grau has a lack of race rhythm but he did what he could and managed to take five points with a sixteenth position. Dieudonne worked himself up into seventeenth position but unfortunately he crashed out of the race and was out for the weekend.

After his fifth position, Karssemakers was determined to do better in the second moto. He took a not so good start and came out of the first turn in twelfth position. During the first lap he already worked himself up into eighth position and in the following laps he moved up into fourth position. Kay kept pushing and started to close down the gap to the second and third place riders. He managed to pass them both and finished the race in second position. Grau made a crash when he was riding inside of the points. After the crash he was struggling to find his rhythm and due to this he didn’t score points in the second moto.

Karssemakers finished third overall with a 5-2 in the motos and Grau ended the weekend in 21st position. In two weeks from now the series continues in Frauenfeld, Switzerland.

Husqvarna BT Racing and Kay Karssemakers finishes in sixth position in the Dutch Masters in Harfsen

Kay Karssemakers of Husqvarna BT Racing finished in sixth position overall in the opening round of the Dutch Masters of Motocross in Harfsen. Karssemakers finished in seventh position in both motos which gave him sixth position overall.

With over sixty riders there were two groups in qualifying. Maxime Grau was riding his first race after knee surgery in the winter and for him it was important to gain race rhythm. He set the tenth fastest time in group A. Wesly Dieudonne was in the same group and after several attempts he set the sixteenth fastest time. In group B it was Karssemakers who came out in sixth!

In the opening moto it were Karssemakers and Grau who were taking a really good start. Karssemakers came out of the first lap in third and Grau was in fifth not far behind him. During the race Karssemakers lost a few positions, worked himself back up to fifth but finally finished the race in seventh. Grau dropped all the way back to seventeenth place but made another mistake and decided to ride safe for the rest of the moto. Wesly Dieudonne had a difficult first moto and had to retire.

Karssemakers was riding a strong first part of the second moto but while riding in fifth place he made a crash. Despite this he regroup well and finished the race in seventh again. Dieudonne came all the way back from 24th position to a well deserved twelfth position while Maxime Grau started the race just outside of the top ten, lost a few positions during the race and crossed the finish line in fourteenth place.

Karssemakers finished in sixth position overall and Dieudonne and Grau ended the day in sixteenth and eighteenth position. Next weekend the Husqvarna BT Racing team will participate in the opening round of the EMX250 Championship in Riola Sardo, Sardinia.

Kay Karssemakers finishes in eighth position in the Dutch MX Season Opener in Lierop despite a painful back

Husqvarna BT Racing participated in the Dutch MX Season Opener in Lierop last Sunday. Due to a crash in the week prior to the race, Kay Karssemakers started the day with a painful back. Despite this he managed to set the eighth fastest time in practice and was motivated to do well in the motos. Wesly Dieudonne had arm pump and was struggling to ride a perfect lap. Due to this he ended the session in 23rd position.

Kay took a decent start in the first moto and went into the first corner around tenth position. In the beginning of the race he worked himself up into eighth place but due to a crash he dropped back to twelfth position. In the rest of the race he recovered well and charged back to ninth position. Wesly had arm pump again in the first moto and was struggling to find his rhythm. Despite this he kept fighting and finished the race in fifteenth position.

In the second moto, Kay took a better start and came out of the first turn in fifth position. He managed to held on to this position in the first two laps but dropped back to seventh in the laps after. After a consistent first half of the race he lost his rhythm and made a crash as well. He lost the seventh position and finally finished in eighth place. The second moto was a bit better for Wesly and this time he crossed the finish line in thirteenth position.

Kay finished in eighth place overall and Wesley ended the day in thirteenth place. The next race for the Husqvarna BT Racing team is the opening round of the Dutch Masters of Motocross in Harfsen on the 19th of March.
