Kay Karssemakers and Husqvarna BT Racing second in the EMX250 Championship

Kay Karssemakers and Husqvarna BT Racing finished second in the final standings of the EMX250 Championship. Karssemakers could not get into his rhythm in both motos during the last race in the British Matterley Basin and finished in seventh place in both the first and second motos. Despite this, this was more than enough to secure second place in the final standings. In addition to Karssemakers, Maxime Grau finished fifth in the day classification and Wesly Dieudonne scored five points with a sixteenth place in the first moto.

The conditions were perfect in Matterley Basin and the track was perfect. In time practice Karssemakers managed to put a decent fifth time on the clock and Maxime Grau was inside of the top ten as well with the tenth fastest time. Wesley Dieudonne did several fastest laps and ended the session in 23rd position.

In the first moto it was Grau who rode a very consistent race and managed to cross the finish line in fourth place. Karssemakers did not get into his rhythm after a poor start. For a moment he took sixth place but failed to hold it and finished seventh. Dieudonne came out of the top twenty in the first lap and had a good rhythm in his hands. During the race he moved up two places and finished in a neat sixteenth place.

In the second moto it was Grau who took the lead immediately after the start. In the early stages he held his own in first place but had to drop the pace slightly after a few laps and fell back to fifth place. In the rest of the race he managed to hold on and scored well again. Karssemakers couldn’t get into his rhythm but fought for what he was worth and finished seventh. Dieudonne didn’t get off to a good start and had a lot of work to do to get to the front. He came close to the points but was stranded in twenty-first place.

In the day classification, Grau finished in fifth place, Karssemakers was seventh and Dieudonne took 22nd place. In the final standings of the championship, Karssemakers secured second place. Grau finished the championship in tenth place and Dieudonne finished twenty-fourth.

Kay Karssemakers op het podium in EMX250 in Turkije

Kay Karssemakers of Husqvarna BT Racing finished on the podium in the penultimate round of the EMX250 Championship in Turkiye last weekend. Karssemakers finished in fifth position in the first moto but did much better in the second race by finishing in second position.

The track was dry and fast during the practice sessions on Saturday. Maxime Grau was feeling himself at home in these type of conditions and took pole position. Karssemakers was struggling to put a decent lap together in time practice and ended the session in tenth while Wesly Dieudonne set the fourteenth fastest time.

In the first moto it was Grau who took the holeshot. The talented Frenchman was leading the race in the first couple of laps till he made a crash. Due to this he lost a lot of positions and finally finished the race in tenth position. Karssemakers was fighting hard during the opening moto and crossed the finish line in fifth while Dieudonne came close of scoring a top ten position and ended up in twelfth position.

The circumstances were completely different in the second moto on Sunday. Due to heavy rainfall on Saturday afternoon the track was much more technical. Grau took another good start but made a mistake in the first turn and crashed. Karssemakers took a good start as well and worked his way up into the lead in the beginning of the race. Karssemakers was leading for a long time but finally he got passed and crossed the finish line in second position. Grau fought his way back from last to twelfth position and Dieudonne came home in seventeenth place.

Karssemakers finished third overall and stays in second position in the championship standings. Grau finished in tenth position overall and Dieudonne ended the weekend in fifteenth position. In three weeks from now the final round of the championship will be held in Matterley Basin, Great Britain.
