Maxime Grau takes top three position in EMX250 Trentino

Maxime Grau of Husqvarna BT Racing has scored a top three moto finish at round two of the EMX250 Championship in Arco di Trento in Italy. After his knee surgery he is starting to find his flow and he showed this with a third position in the second moto. In the first moto he finished in thirteenth position and this gave him sixth position overall. Kay Karssemakers finished in eighth place overall with a 6-9 in the motos.

Both riders went out in time practice and were doing several attempts to put a fast lap together. The track was sketchy and slippery in places and this made it difficult. Finally it was Grau who set the eighth fastest time on the clock, just one position in front of Karssemakers.

Karssemakers took a really good start in the opening moto and worked his way up into third position. He held on to this position in the first few laps and later he was riding in fourth position. Due to a small crash he dropped back to seventh position. Karssemakers found his rhythm back and managed to pass the rider in front of him and finished in sixth position. Grau took a less good start and was riding in eleventh position for a long time. Because he wasn’t riding in a fine rhythm he lost two positions near the end and finished the race in thirteenth place.

Grau took a better start in the second moto and worked his way up from fifth to third place. He was following the second place rider for a long time and finished the race in a strong third place. Karssemakers took a good start as well but due to a crash in the first lap he dropped back to eleventh place. He worked his way up into ninth and a few laps later he took over eighth place. Due to a small crash he lost this position again and finished in ninth place.

With 13-3 in the motos it was Grau who finished in sixth position overall and Karssemakers ended the weekend in eighth place. After two rounds, Karssemakers sits in fourth position in the championship while Grau has climbed up to eleventh spot. In two weeks from now the series continues in Agueda, Portugal.
