Lucas Coenen on the podium in EMX250 Sardinia

Lucas Coenen finished on the podium at round four of the EMX250 Series in Riola Sardo, Sardinia. Coenen finished fourth in the opening moto but was leading for a long time in the second moto and finally finished in a strong second position, which gave him third overall.

The circumstances were tough in Sardinia. With temperatures around thirty degrees and a heavy sand track it was physically demanding for the riders. Lucas was ready for it and started the weekend on a positive note. In qualifying he was sixth fastest and this gave him a good gate pick in both motos.

Lucas took a not so good start in the opening moto and was just inside of the top ten by the end of the first lap. He started a charge and managed to pass one rider after another. In the middle of the race he had worked himself up into fifth position but he wasn’t satisfied with this and kept charging. He passed the third and fourth place riders as well but unfortunately he made a small mistake in the closing stages of the race. He lost third position again and finally finished in fourth position.

He took a better start in the second moto and it didn’t took long before he moved into first position. He tried to make a gap over himself and the second place riders. He held on to first position till the middle of the race but then he lost the lead. Lucas kept fighting and was staying close to the leader. In the closing stages of the race he tried to pass him back but he ran out of time and had to be satisfied with second position.

With a 4-2 in the motos he took third overall. With these good results he has moved up to fifth position in the championship!

Unfortunately he crashed at the start of the second moto and had to come back through the field. Sacha Coenen dislocated his shoulder at the start of the first moto and was out for the rest of the weekend. Lucas took a good start and he came out of the first lap in second position. During the race he held on to this position and managed to finish the race in second place.

At the start of the second moto things went wrong for Lucas. He collided with another rider and crashed. Jumbo Husqvarna BT Racing and Lucas Coenen second in the Dutch Masters in Harfsen

Jumbo Husqvarna BT Racing finished second overall with Lucas Coenen in the third round of the Dutch Masters of Motocross at Harfsen. Lucas came home in third and second in the motos, which was enough to give him the second spot on the podium. Sacha Coenen came close to the podium as well. Sacha finished in fifth and third in the motos and ended up fourth overall.

The track in Harfsen was hard and fast in time practice. Sacha was feeling himself at home and took pole position. Lucas ended the session in seventh and was satisfied with this!

When the gate dropped in the opening moto it was Lucas who took the holeshot. He was leading in the beginning but soon after he lost two positions and finished the race in third. Sacha made a mistake at the start but took the inside line in the first corner and started the race just outside of the top five. He worked his way up into fourth position but due to a crash he dropped all the way back to twelfth position. He started a charge back through the field and managed to pass a lot of riders who were riding in front of him. In the last couple of laps he was the fastest rider on the track. He came close of finishing in fourth position but collided with a back marker and finally had to be satisfied with fifth position.

Lucas took another holeshot in the second moto but due to a small mistake he lost the lead immediately. He was following the leader for the entire race. Just after the midway point he started to put the pressure on the leader but due to a red flag situation the race was stopped and the organization decided that the classification from a lap earlier were the results of the second moto. Sacha worked his way back up from ninth to fourth and started to put the pressure on the third place rider in the closing stages of the race. He managed to make a pass stick and finished the race in third position.

Lucas finished in second position in the overall classification and Sacha ended up in fourth position. Next weekend Jumbo Husqvarna BT Racing will participate in the next EMX250 round in Maggiora, Itally.
