Lucas Coenen scores top three position in EMX250 in France

Lucas Coenen of Jumbo Husqvarna BT Racing has scored a top three position at round six of the EMX250 Championship in Ernee, France. He took this position with a second place in the second moto. Unfortunately he was forced to retire from the first moto due to a mechanical problem. Sacha Coenen was riding two consistent motos and finished sixth overall with a 7-9 in the motos.

The track of Ernee was in prime condition when the practice sessions started on Saturday. Everything went well for Lucas and Sacha in time practice and after a few fast laps it was Sacha who qualified himself in sixth position in and Lucas ended the session in eleventh.

In the opening moto it was Lucas who took a really good start and it didn’t took him long to take the lead. In the beginning of the race he made small gap over himself and the second placed rider but unfortunately he made a crash and dropped down to fifth position. He took his time to recover but unfortunately he got a small mechanical problem and was forced to retire from the race. Sacha started the race outside of the top ten and had a lot of catching up to do. This went well and after a strong ride he crossed the finish line in seventh position.

Lucas and Sacha were able to take a good start in the second moto and were coming out of the first lap in third and fourth. Lucas worked his way up into second position and started to put the pressure on the leader. He came close for a few times but couldn’t make a pass stick and had to be satisfied with second position. Sacha was riding a consistent race and was riding inside of the top five for the entire moto. Unfortunately with still a few laps to go he made a crash and finished the race in ninth.

Sacha finished in sixth position overall and Lucas ended up in ninth place. After six rounds it is Lucas who is tied in points for third position while Sacha has climbed up to 23rd position. The next round of the series will be held this weekend in Teutschenthal, Germany.
